“Knowledge is like a garden; if it is not cultivated, it cannot be harvested.”

Welcome to the knowledge garden of the Kosmic Gardener — Patricia Parkinson

The word kosmic derives from the Greek verb kosmeo (κόσμεω), meaning “to arrange, order, or adorn.” Tending this garden is my way of bringing order and harmony to my mind and my life. You might recognize it as a digital garden, second brain, commonplace book, zettelkasten, or personal wiki — a living collection that weaves together threads of consciousness, art, ecology, technology, alchemy, and more.

My stream of thought waters this garden of knowledge. Possibilities, like seeds, often lie hidden, waiting patiently beneath the surface — ready to grow when given care and attention. Gardening, as a metaphor for knowledge management, involves nurturing these seeds of insight, helping them flourish into meaningful understanding and clear thinking.

This is a living garden — many notes are still growing. You’re welcome to wander through the unfinished alongside the fully formed. I share these notes in hopes they might spark something meaningful for you. I make an effort to credit original sources, but if something feels unclear or incomplete, please reach out.

How Notes Grow

Notes move through four growth stages:

StageMeaning
seed 🌱A first thought — briefly capturing an idea, question, or hypothesis for future exploration
soil ✨Raw material — references, resources, and fragments that nourish future thinking
structure 🪵Organized and connected — mapping how ideas relate to one another
evergreen 🌲Mature and lasting — well-developed insights, regularly maintained
